Freezing this February? Fortuitously, full of free, warm-fuzzy, friendly festivities!

If you’ve been feeling cooped up at home, we’ve scheduled a bunch of events perfect for getting out of the house and meeting people who like to bike in Alexandria. Your options fall on a range of “interactive with other people” from marching in a large public parade to mingling to sitting quietly in a dark room.

  • Monday, 2/16 = George Washington Parade (line up 12:30 @ Gibbon & Pitt Streets)
  • Saturday, 2/21 = Bike-Themed Film Screening at Duncan Library (2PM)
  • Thursday, 2/26 = BPAC Happy Hour at Theisman’s (5PM to ??)
  • Saturday, 2/28 = Cycling Party at Swet Ride (4PM – not free)
  • March TBA = Craft Night!
  • March TBA = Bike Fit and Posture Event

George Washington Parade
Join us in the annual George Washington Birthday Parade in Old Town! The Spokeswomen will be proudly biking/marching with our banner, joined by other enthusiastic members of the Alexandria bike community.

All ages and genders are welcome. Free event. Please contact us for logistics.

Bike-Themed Film Screening at Duncan Library
We will be screening a classic film from 1948 widely revered as one of the greatest films of all time, about a man and his son’s search for a stolen bicycle. Roger Ebert described it as ‘alive with strength and freshness’ on the 50th anniversary of the film’s original release, and the film has a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

All ages and genders are welcome. Free event.

BPAC Happy Hour at Theisman’s
The Alexandria Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) is hosting another happy hour in Old Town at the end of this month.  Our last one in the fall was a huge success, where we got to meet a lot of new people and grow the Spokeswomen!

All genders are welcome, 21+ if you intend to drink. Free event, buy your own food/drink.

Cycling Party at Swet Ride

Join us for an indoor cycling party at the new Swet Ride studio in Del Ray! It will be a small class with an instructor.

Women(identifying) only. $12, must pre-register. Please contact us for details.
